Ronald M. Caronia, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Ronald M. Caronia, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board-certified ophthalmologist providing glaucoma treatment and cataract surgery. Dr. Caronia is certified on the CATALYS Femtosecond Laser to perform Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (LACS).
Dr. Caronia is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine. He also participates in glaucoma research and mentors ophthalmic residents at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and the Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Caronia has lectured nationally on subjects pertaining to glaucoma and has recently authored a textbook on the topic.
Dr. Caronia obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree at New York Medical College. He performed his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital, where he was named Chief Resident his final year. He continued his education with a fellowship in glaucoma at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Caronia is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a proud member of several professional associations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of the State of New York, the New York Glaucoma Society and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Caronia is a partner of Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, OCLI. OCLI consists of over 30 eye doctors representing most specialties of ophthalmology in eleven locations throughout Long Island: Rockville Centre, Oceanside, Valley Stream, East Setauket, Manhasset, East Meadow, Port Jefferson, Mineola, Garden City, Massapequa and Plainview. Dr. Caronia is also a partner at Island Eye Surgicenter in Carle Place.
