Richard SturmRichard Sturm, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist performing cataract surgery and glaucoma treatments. Dr. Sturm is certified on the CATALYS Femtosecond Laser to perform Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (LACS).

Dr. Sturm has been named “Best Doctor” for the New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly every year since 1997. He served as Clinical Instructor and Director of Glaucoma Services at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center.

After completing his undergraduate degree at Manhattan College, Dr. Sturm obtained his medical degree at New York Medical College. He served his residency at the St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center, where he earned the title of Chief Resident. Dr. Sturm received additional fellowship training in glaucoma at the Glaucoma Consultation Service of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Sturm is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Long Island Ophthalmological Society, the Medical Society of the State of New York and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, among other medical professional organizations.

Dr. Sturm is a partner of Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, OCLI. OCLI consists of over 30 eye doctors representing most specialties of ophthalmology in eleven locations throughout Long Island: Rockville Centre, Oceanside, Valley Stream, East Setauket, Manhasset, East Meadow, Port Jefferson, Mineola, Garden City, Massapequa and Plainview. Dr. Sturm is also a partner at Island Eye Surgicenter in Carle Place.
