Nikola Ragusa, MD
Nikola Ragusa, MD, is an American Board of Ophthalmology board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He graduated from the renowned BS/MD program at The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education and SUNY Health Center at Brooklyn with top honors Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his ophthalmology residency at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Lastly, he went on to complete a clinical and surgical fellowship in glaucoma at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Ritch and Dr. Jeffrey Liebmann.
He has presented research and given talks nationally and internationally. His research interests include improving glaucoma medication adherence, pseudoexfoliation and pigment dispersion syndromes.
Dr. Ragusa is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the New York State Ophthalmological Society and the New York Glaucoma Society. He speaks fluent Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian, and is competent in Spanish.
Dr. Ragusa offers medical expertise and surgery in the following areas: Argon laser iridotomy; Argon laser peripheral iridoplasty; Argon laser and selective laser trabeculoplasty; Ahmed, Molteno and Baerveldt glaucoma implant; Canaloplasty; Micro-invasive glaucoma surgery; Endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation; Trans-scleral cyclophotocoagulation; Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (LACS); Multifocal intraocular lens placement; Toric lens intraocular lens placement; Anterior segment reconstruction; Intraocular lens repositioning and removal; Pterygium and conjunctival and corneal lesion removal; Dry eyes and other corneal conditions; Uveitis and ocular inflammation. Dr. Ragusa is certified on the CATALYS Femtosecond Laser to perform Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (LACS).
