Eye surgery on Long Island

Patient Scheduling Information

You should plan to be here three to four hours!

Island Eye recognizes and respects that surgery is stressful for all involved. Please be aware that your surgeon is not the only surgeon operating at Island Eye Surgicenter on your surgery day. Therefore, you may see other patients being admitted for surgery before you or your family member — even if they arrived after you.

We try our best to schedule patients with the least amount of time here as possible, but surgery is never predictable, and every patient and surgery is different.

You will get a phone call two to three days prior to your surgery from one of our nurses, who will review your medical history, go over your instructions and answer any of your questions. The nurse will also tell you when to arrive at the center on your day of surgery.

Please be aware that the time that we tell you to be here is NOT your actual surgical time! We generally ask you to be here approximately one hour prior to when we believe your surgery will start, so that we can get you ready.

However, surgery is rarely 100 percent predictable. Every surgeon operates at a different pace, and each patient may have a different procedure; therefore, it may take different amounts of time in the operating room. You should plan for you and your escort to be here for three to four hours. Hopefully less! Sometimes more…

Our goal is always to do what is best for our patients, NOT what is most convenient! The best possible surgical outcome and your safety is our ultimate goal.
